The Orange Garden

In 1970s pre-Revolutionary Iran, an apathetic young Peace Corps volunteer ends up falling in love and falling in with a movement of college students to overthrow the government. Later, back in the U.S., he has to contend with his actions and what it means to have the privilege of being an American.

Based on my dad’s experience living in Iran. Written in collaboration with Persian poet Khodadad Kaviani.

Performed at The University of Texas at Austin, Northwestern University, Chance Theater (reading), Banff Playwrights Colony (reading)

Recipient: Keene Prize for Literature
Kilroys List Honorable Mention
